As part of a local fundraiser with the Wabash County Retail Merchants, First Bank recently sold solar eclipse glasses at our branch located at 601 N Market Street, Mt. Carmel, IL 62863.

To protect your eyes when viewing the sun or an eclipse, NASA and the American Astronomical Society (AAS) advise you to use solar eclipse glasses or other solar filters from recommended manufacturers. Viewing the sun or an eclipse using any other glasses or filters could result in loss of vision or permanent blindness.

The glasses sold by First Bank were purchased from We have been contacted by Amazon, and Amazon has not been able to guarantee that the glasses we purchased are NASA or AAS approved. We recommend that you DO NOT use this product to view the sun or the eclipse.

He earned his B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Southern Indiana, and is a 2004 graduate of Princeton Community High School.

Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. So they set a goal to reduce fire-related deaths and injuries in the US by 25% by 2020. Much progress has been made, but more help is needed, and First Bank is proud to make a donation to this worthy cause!
